Most people move away from fear versus moving toward pleasure. What does that mean to you?
Most people move away from fear versus moving toward pleasure. What does that mean to you?
If I’m working with somebody who is looking to buy a property, they don’t usually come to me acting excited about buying their first new home. They’re usually weary from renting for eight years and tired of helping their landlord get rich while they have no tax benefits and nothing to show for their money. In this situation, they’re moving away from pain (renting).
If I’m working with somebody who is looking to sell a property, they’re usually doing so because they’re running out of room. For example, their dog doesn’t have a big enough yard to play in, or the family has another child on the way. Again, this is an example of moving away from pain. They’re forgetting about the pleasure of knowing that they get to buy a brand new home with more space to accommodate whatever they need.

Run toward what’s going

to get you excited.
As you’re going through the buying or selling process and you find yourself focusing on the pain, try to transfer that energy to focus on the pleasure. Don’t run away from what’s not working; run toward what’s going to get you excited. That shift in mindset will make the process of buying or selling that much more exciting.
