So your offer on a home just got accepted. Now what?
For starters, everything just got real. It's time to buy and it can be an overwhelming experience. We don't want a buyer to spend multiple weeks finding a home and making an offer only to get freaked out when it's accepted, and back out. You might not be able to find another great property. I've compiled a list of three ways to create more certainty during the buying process and make you more comfortable.
- Get pre-approved. So many buyers want to see what's out there before getting pre-approved, and that's the exact wrong way to buy. When you get pre-approved, you learn about what kind of loan you'll get, what the monthly payment will be, and what the lender is like. You'll know exactly what you can afford, creating certainty and clarity, which creates confidence.
- Go back to your motivation. What made you want to move in the first place? Hate renting? Hate making your landlord rich? You wanted to paint but couldn't? Rent went up every single year? Knowing your reasons will make you excited again when your offer is accepted - no buyer's remorse.
- You have to understand what you really want. We have buyers come in and tell me they work in Irvine and are looking for a home in a 15-mile radius. That's a big radius that brings up a lot of areas, communities, and price points. If you're not totally sure about the area you're looking in, you might have second thoughts when your offer is accepted.
